There are seven main chakras (or energy centers) in the body. The word Chakra in Sanskrit means wheel. the Chakras themselves are circular and move or spin like a wheel does.
The Chakras cover all the organs and glands (endocrine system) in the body. The seven main chakras regulate, maintain and manage the physical, emotional, mental and spirtual aspects of our being.
During a Reiki session, the hand positions cover the seven main Chakras. In so doing, the Reiki heals the dis-ease of the organ, the emotions, the mental and spiritual state of being.
The seven main Chakras are:
Root (1) is located at the pelvic/hip area and is related to sexuality and sexual organs.
Abdomen (2) is located in the stomach area and is related to creativity.
Solar Plexis (3) is located in the diaphragm. This chakra is the power center. It is related to self esteem and confidence. It also stores are judgements and fears.
Heart (4) is located at the heart. It relates to love, compassion and relationships.
Throat (5) is located at the throat. It relates to communication and expression of feelings.
Third Eye (6) is located in the middle of the forehead. It relates to inner vision and intuition.
Crown (7) is at the top of the head. The crown is connected to divine awareness and is the opening for which Reiki energy enters the body.
